Are there any good spots near the potholes to camp? We ventured out last year and are looking forward to returning again.

Also, how about trails. Any good trails to the potholes? We looked around for a primary trail but only found a secondary trail that was ok out to the potholes but pretty much disappeared once we got out there.

Coming off the main trail, there's only one 'fair' trail. It fades quickly but if you keep your compass headed north, you should run into the potholes. There's a trail that goes north out of the Davenport Camp and there's a little spring up there. North out of the Stormer Camp there's a trail that comes to the north bluff and almost to the bluff there's a trail that heads west. Follow that to the potholes. (not so easy as it's overgrown)

The potholes, from the edge, have a rounded look. To the west are some deep valleys that have more of that valley look than rounded.

Camping in the NW corner of the island is great... isolated, great views, lots of old logging sign. Access to water is easy, getting back to camp is a serious chore. 200'+ clay bluff. To the west of the potholes are some deep valleys that run down toward the west side and water. Still a drop down to the beach but more do-able. And as you know, if the breeze is out of the wrong direction, the bugs can be tough.

A little further south from there, your access to water gets better and there are some nicer camping areas.
The fun is hiking around and finding them.
